The event and atmosphere was largely peaceful and rather subdued. Although scuffles or outbreaks of violence involving the police took place, they were relatively few and far between. With any scuffle came a swathe of photographers and reporters eager to get shots of the action.

After the event, I walked home and switched on the TV. The coverage I witnessed on the news and in the media was almost unrecognizable to the event I had just seen. A largely peaceful event had been transformed beyond all recognition into full on, rioting in the streets of London.
